Cancelling a reservation

Cancelling a reservation

The guest has a planned stay for 12 nights but has only paid for five nights. It appears as if the guest is having financial problems and so I would prefer to avoid all problems of receiving payment as he is only able to pay for the remainder of the stay the day after he arrives.. My fear is that the person will come to the property and have no money to pay for the remaining 7 nights and i will not get and I  will have problems getting them to leave the property. what should i do?

@Janz1 I don’t understand. Airbnb collects payment from the guest before they arrive. If payment is not completed on time you can cancel the reservation. Call Airbnb.

Thanks for your advice Lisa. I have called Airbnb and I am trying to obtain cancellation. I am hoping that I can cancell without penalty. The risk is just too high.  It appears that the guest is just trying to get on property and so  has booked for 5 nights instead of 12nights.  A fellow Airbnb host gave me the contact info for the guest and said that   he needed a 3 bedroom for 12 nights.   On March 30, 2019,  I told the guest to book my property through  Airbnb because  I am only accepting bookings through Airbnb. On  April 5, 2019 the guest  books for only 5 nights and he is promising to book the other 7 night sthe day after he arrives on property because he has funeral expenses.  To me,  this is not a  normal extension of time because the guest and I know from the begining that he needs 12 nights but it appears that he cannot afford the 12 nights.. The risk is just too high and it is just not worth the potential confrontation which would involve the neighbours and the Police if he  cannot pay for the other 7 nights and he refuses to come off the property.  This  situaton is really stressing me out. Help !!!!

@Janz1 I see. Do you have any specific reason to think he would refuse to leave if he's unable to pay to extend his stay? If not I'm not exactly seeing why you are so concerned.
