Host accusing of damages

'Hi our airbnb host actually requested us for extra money for him using "extra time" for cleaning his apartment after we left. He even accused us of spoiling his toilet by throwing something else in other than toilet paper, though he has told us about this incident that happened to him to another of his previous guest. Obviously we would not do that (why would we even) after being reminded. When we left the apartment and toilet was totally fine and clean, and even returned two hours later to collect our luggage from him but at that time he did not even mention a single thing about the toilet and extra time cleaning the house. We initially left him a good review before this whole drama but he left us a negative one and accused us of the "damages" which he now says its fortunately working well now but we still need to compensate him for throwing something else in and causing him more time to clean up which is totally untrue. should have taken a picture but we didn't.

 

can we decline his request for money or leave it for airbnb to step in? he did nt reply after we replied him saying its not right for us to pay him when we did not do it. neither did we spoil or dirty his place as he claimed.

Yes, you can decline.

Surprisingly that host is a "Superhost" with 87 good reviews. Photos should have been taken, by the guests and by the host, otherwise it is difficult for Airbnb to make a decision. Yes, you can decline.
