Hello all,
I am very new to Airbnb and I have just received my first booking which I have accepted. The guest sent me a provisional message to ask if I was happy to host him for two weeks. I replied that it was fine and then he made the reservation. However, when I looked at the messages again, one was with one first name and the second one (half hour later) under another first name (same surname, same photo). I am now worried that it may be a hoax. Have you had this issue before?
Thanks for your advice on this.
Del
Hello @Delphine127. To answer your question: yes, with Scottish/Irish vs. English, Asian (transliteration) to English. Try to compare the names if you are worried.
Thanks for your reply Marzena, I am a bit concerned because the profile had Luke as a first name during the enquiry and Matthew as a first name during the booking. The profile name was changed within 30 minutes of the first message. It doesn't seem to be a translation issue.
Thanks
Del
Hi Del,
You are set up for formal verification, correct?
"Is this a hoax?" is a suspicion, not a question. Start asking questions and you will start getting answers.
You don't need to ask us... ask your prospective guest.
Would you let the group know how this turns out? (Curious if this was a strange mix-up, or?)
Best,
Kim
@Delphine127 Hi Del, I would ask the guest about the two different names. Make sure this isn't a Third Party booking.
