Need reassurance before continuing to promote airbnb to friends

I have a number of friends who may be interested to host on airbnb.   I like to introduce them and earn some credits.

But I am reluctant to introduce at the moment because I introduced one host earlier this year.   And airbnb confirmed that I had earned $98 credit.   After 6 months, airbnb still continues to say : "You’ve got $0 AUD in travel credit to spend!".   So I can't use my credit !!

Airbnb should reassure members that they should feel confident they can continue to introduce people and earn credit.

In the meantime, I am still wondering if Airbnb is ACTUALLY going to honour the credit??

Michael this is a forum for hosts.

If you want to talk to BnB you will need to contact them directly.

I wouldn't recommend BnB just to get credits - only recommend it if you feel it would be a good opportunity for your friends.

I have tried to contact Airbnb, but they are not contactable.

As for recommending for credit, I don't see why not.  It's of course up to my friends to decide if it it is suitable for them.

( By the way, I do think the concept of Airbnb is GREAT.  I use it myself both for hosting and for travels.  I was just suggesting they should reassure members they will actually receive their credits )

Hi Michael, 

I think there's a difference between Hosting Credit and Travel Credit.

I got travel credit when someone signed up as a traveller which I was able to use to my travel accommodation under AirBnB. Hosting credit I'm yet to earn because none my friends have places to rent the moment.

Credits also has expiration. I believe 1 year. And if you use the credit for travel and decide to cancel, that credit is gone.

In my case, my friend has already hosted, and I have already been 'given' the credits.  It's just that there is NO WAY of using them.  ( And they haven't expired yet ).

Hi,

I've referred both hosts and guests and the credit appears in the travel credit on my account.
Also some credits I received (like super host rewards) are actually given as a voucher code and do not reflect in your account. However the email that you have received will then have a voucher code, that you can use while making a new booking.

Thanks for your information.  That is interesting.

But in any case, mine wasn't a voucher.  In fact, looking back at my emails, it is now even more strange!  The credit that I was supposed to have been given according to the Airbnb email was $106.  But my Airbnb account reports that I was given $98.   And of course I neither have $106 or $98 to spend!

Oh well.
