Hello everyone 😊,
I hope you’re having a great week!
Offering local products or services to your guests can really enhance their experience. Whether it’s coffee roasted in your neighborhood, handmade goods, or
recommendations for local guides, it helps create a more authentic connection with the destination.
And you, do you offer any local products or services to your guests?
I’m looking forward to reading your thoughts!
Warm regards,
Elisa 🌻

Dear @Elisa ,
We are located in a small village between major tourist destinations. The village is very local and beautiful. I wish it were livelier and that more entrepreneurs would be motivated to open businesses here. It has so much to offer on so many levels, and it is a shame that it is not encouraged enough. For example, there is a local restaurant within walking distance from us, and we have had several guests who reported having dinner there every single night. Does this support the local community and the local economy? It absolutely does.
We do everything we can to support the local community. We recommend nearby places, and try to offer our guests locally sourced products from the area, though consistent quality and availability are not always easy to manage.
In my opinion, this is one of the most beautiful aspects of what Airbnb can do for communities. And I think they could do an even better job if they stopped looking at the world from a boardroom far removed from reality.
So there you go. I started with a compliment and ended with a critique.
Hi @Guy991 😊,
Thank you for sharing.
I really hear your point about how even small, consistent choices like recommending local restaurants or sourcing nearby products can have a real impact on the community. It’s often these everyday decisions that quietly shape a place over time.
Do you feel guests are becoming more intentional now when it comes to supporting local businesses, or is it still something you mostly have to guide them toward?

located in Detroit I offer Better Made chips, Germack Pistachios, and a variety of Faygo, Strohs, Vernors, and Atwater Beer.
Hi @Donavan8 😊,
This looks so delicious for your guests.
Where do you buy everything? In local shops or online?
-----
I go to our local farmers market and grocery store.
Hi @Elisa ,
Very smart question, as always!
In my experience, it is both. Some guests arrive already intentional about it — they actively seek out local experiences and it is part of why they chose my place over a hotel. Others have no particular plan but when I point them in the right direction they embrace it wholeheartedly and are genuinely delighted by what they discover.
So some are looking for it and some are happily guided toward it. But in both cases the enthusiasm is real. Whether it comes from a desire to give back or simply from the curiosity of discovering new places, tastes, and smells — it doesn't really matter what you call it. The result is wonderful either way.
Hi @Guy991 😊,
you are always so kind!
That’s a great way to put it.
Do you find guests are more receptive when you give them a short curated list, or when you explain things more personally on arrival?
