Hello everyone 😊,
I hope you’re having a great week!
Offering local products or services to your guests can really enhance their experience. Whether it’s coffee roasted in your neighborhood, handmade goods, or
recommendations for local guides, it helps create a more authentic connection with the destination.
And you, do you offer any local products or services to your guests?
I’m looking forward to reading your thoughts!
Warm regards,
Elisa 🌻

Hi Elisa ~
I own a unit in Waikiki that I rent for vacationers, and my cleaning crew stocks bath & body items from Luxus Hawaii (personalparadise.com) that are locally made. Guests often inquire about how/where they can get more to take home. Also, each booking or inquiry gets a nice long message about all of the who/what/where & how to enable them to get around like a true cost-conscious local.

Hi @Donelle8 😊,
Thank you for sharing these beautiful things here!
Can guests take some items home by buying them?

Hi @Elisa ~
Guests can take home what is in the unit for their use, and they can order from that website. I’m not in a position to have inventory that I can sell them, but that’s an idea!

We only have a small studio next to our home, without a full kitchen so we do make recommendations in our compendium to all the local restaurants or takeaway options nearby.
I have also noted in there the local markets, and guide them on a nature walk to a nearby waterfall, which is not on any of the visitor information sites. I think you can overload guests with too much information, they often do there own research before they come, whether they are hiking, just resting or curious about the area.
Because our nighty rate is very low, I can't really afford all the soaps etc to be local made etc, but I do make the effort to stock NZ made products, and I only use environmentally friendly cleaning products because we are rural and on a septic system.
So far we get alot of NZ travellers and people for work in the area, less of the international visitors.
Hi @Bronie0 😊,
That sounds really well thought through, especially the balance between guiding guests and not overwhelming them.
Do you find your guests tend to use the compendium a lot once they arrive, or do they mostly arrive already having planned their stay?

Our property is in a very small town but has a lot to offer to guests, particularly when they are working in the area or just want a quiet, peaceful stay. There is a new sausage plant that was just built in the city and I encourage the guests to try it out. It has always been made in the region and I actually grew up eating them. I also stock the refrigerator with bottled water for my guests. It is a small gesture that goes a long way. Finally, if guests want a little more of an adventure, there are beaches relatively close to the area where they can spend the day at a fraction of the cost of beach accommodations.
Hi @Diana3065 😊,
That sounds like a really thoughtful guest experience!
Do guests usually end up exploring the local food spots and beaches you recommend, or do they mostly prefer to stay in and rest?
